The Purchase Trainee / Assistant will support the Procurement Department in sourcing and purchasing mechanical and engineering materials required for manufacturing and operational activities. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, internal departments, and ensuring the timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted business operations.

The ideal candidate should possess a Mechanical Engineering background, strong organizational skills, and an eagerness to learn procurement processes within a manufacturing environment.

Principales responsabilités

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

  • Assist in identifying reliable suppliers and evaluating quotations for required materials.
  • Prepare purchase orders, send inquiries, and follow up with vendors regularly.
  • Support negotiations related to pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely procurement support.

Material Planning & Supply Management

  • Coordinate with Stores, Production, and Maintenance teams to understand material requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor order progress and ensure materials are delivered on time to prevent production delays.
  • Follow up on material inspections, rejections, and replacements whenever required.
  • Support inventory planning by ensuring adequate material availability.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, pricing details, and product specifications.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders, delivery challans, and receiving records.
  • Prepare procurement reports including pending orders, cost comparisons, and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Ensure procurement documentation is properly maintained and updated.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Support vendor evaluation activities and maintain an approved supplier database.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Contribute to efficient procurement operations and supplier management practices.

Qualifications et expérience

Educational Qualification

  • Diploma (DME) / B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • 0 – 2 years of experience in Purchase, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing environments.
  • Freshers with strong technical knowledge and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel and Word).
  • Familiarity with SAP at a basic level.
  • Understanding of procurement and material management processes is an added advantage.

  • Good communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
